Kingdom Thinking

Kingdom Thinking means learning to think according to God's perspective rather than the world's perspective or our own natural desires. Changing our thinking to align with God's Word will transform our lives.

"Have you ever asked, 'What were you thinking?'"

The real question for believers is: Are we thinking God's thoughts or our own?

I. The Importance of Kingdom Thinking

As followers of Christ, we are called to think differently than the world.

Key Truth

Changing our thinking to God's way of thinking changes our lives.

Our thoughts influence everything else:

- Watch your thoughts—they become your words.

- Watch your words—they become your actions.

- Watch your actions—they become your habits.

Therefore, spiritual growth begins with renewed thinking.

II. Peter: A Lesson in Wrong Thinking

Scripture: Matthew 16:13–23

Peter had good intentions when he tried to stop Jesus from going to the cross. He believed he was protecting Jesus.

However:

- Peter's thinking contradicted God's plan.

- Jesus rebuked him because Peter was focused on human concerns rather than God's purposes.

- Satan influenced Peter's thinking even though Peter thought he was doing the right thing.

Application

Good intentions are not enough.

We must:

- Seek God's agenda rather than our own.

- Be mindful of the things of God.

- Submit our plans to God's will.

III. The Battle for Our Minds

Scripture: Mark 4:15

When God speaks through His Word:

- The enemy immediately tries to steal that truth.

- Satan often replaces God's truth with counterfeit ideas and false substitutes.

How to Win the Battle

We must:

1. Submit ourselves to God.

2. Resist the devil.

3. Hold firmly to God's Word.

Kingdom thinking requires guarding our minds against deception.

IV. Humility in Positions of Influence

When God promotes us or gives us authority:

- It is not for our personal glory.

- It is for God's glory.

Kingdom-minded people recognize that every blessing, position, and opportunity is meant to honor God rather than themselves.

V. Why We Need Kingdom Thinking

1. God Is Wiser Than We Are

God sees the whole picture while we see only a small part.

2. God's Word Is Powerful

The Bible is:

- Alive and active

- Sharper than a two-edged sword

3. God's Word Corrects and Guides Us

Scripture is useful for:

- Teaching doctrine

- Correction

- Instruction in righteousness

4. God's Word Produces Growth

Spiritual maturity comes through regularly reading and applying Scripture.

5. God's Word Keeps Us on the Right Path

Kingdom thinking protects us from wandering away from God's will.

VI. Renewing the Mind Through Scripture

Kingdom thinking does not happen automatically.

We must:

- Read the Bible consistently.

- Meditate on God's Word.

- Allow Scripture to shape our beliefs, attitudes, and decisions.

The more God's Word fills our minds, the more our thinking reflects His Kingdom.

VII. Forgiveness: A Practical Example of Kingdom Thinking

The world says:

- Hold a grudge.

- Get even.

- You have the right to stay offended.

God says:

- Forgive.

- Release bitterness.

- Extend grace as you have received grace.

Forgiveness is a clear example of choosing God's way of thinking over the world's way.

Conclusion

Kingdom thinking means surrendering our minds to God's truth and allowing His Word to shape how we think, speak, and live.
