Mind Games Week 1

Anxiety is something every person faces. We all experience fear or worry about life’s situations. The Bible reminds us that even some of God’s greatest servants wrestled with anxiety:

- Moses struggled with fear about speaking and leading Israel, yet God still used him to deliver His people from bondage.

- Elijah, one of the greatest prophets, became so overwhelmed that he prayed for God to take his life.

- Paul, the greatest evangelist in church history, admitted that he despaired of life itself under the weight of ministry burdens.

These examples remind us: struggling with anxiety does not make us “less Christian.” It makes us human.

Some people may even be genetically predisposed to anxiety. God knows this and graciously provides help—whether through medication, counseling, or life changes. But above all, He calls us to trust Him to carry us through and to lean on His power to restore and heal us.

As 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “Take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ.” If we don’t, our thoughts will take us captive.

Three Biblical Ways to Confront Anxiety

1. Deal with unconfessed sin – If God brings something to mind, address it honestly.

2. Cast your anxieties on God persistently – Keep bringing them back to Him in prayer.

3. Thank God continuously – Gratitude shifts our focus and builds trust in His care.

God does not abandon us in our anxiety—He walks with us during it. Jesus Himself endured stress so deep that He sweat drops of blood before His crucifixion. Because of this, He understands our burdens and carries them with us.

The good news: God cares for us in our mess, and He is faithful to bring peace to anxious hearts.
