The Ten Commandments Week 4
God defines for us in the Commandments things that are sinful. This is His list, and He gets to decide what is right and wrong and what makes His list.
God‘s word defines what is the truth, and we need to respect who He is and what He says in His Book, the Bible.
Just because we’re tempted by some area of weakness in our life does not mean we should act on it. God tells us what’s right and wrong and we should listen and obey to His Word.
God wants a relationship with us. He wants us to do the right things on His list because we love Him. We are not saved by keeping the 10 Commandments, but we do show ourselves and others our love of God by obeying Him.
Commandments from this message:
You shall not murder.
Killing an innocent person is murder. Fighting in war is not murder. Defending yourself against attack is not murder. But killing an innocent person, whether it’s someone you know or a baby in the womb, is murder.
…
You shall not steal.
You shall not lie.
We know it’s wrong to take what’s not ours or to tell something that is not true. We do harm to ourselves and others, and damage our relationship with God, if we do these things.
Keeping the Commandments does not make us righteous or save us. We keep the Commandments because we love the Lord and want to have a close relationship with Him.
