Truth In Troubled Times Week 2

1. God Sees Who You Will Be, Not Just Who You Are

- Judges 6:12 (NIV) — “When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, ‘The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.’”

- Gideon was hiding in fear, threshing wheat in a winepress.

- Yet God called him a “mighty warrior” before he ever lived it out.

Truth: God sees our future identity, not just our current reality.

Application:

- Don’t let your present condition define you.

- Trust how God sees you.

2. Insecurity Can Rob Us of God’s Purpose

- Judges 6:15 (NIV) — “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest… and I am the least…”

Gideon focused on:

- His weakness

- His background

- His limitations

Truth: Insecurity can keep us from stepping into God’s calling.

Application:

- Identify the excuses you’re making.

- Replace them with faith in God’s ability.

3. God Requires Obedience, Not Perfection

- Judges 6:14 (NIV) — “Go in the strength you have… Am I not sending you?”

- God didn’t ask Gideon to feel strong—just to go.

Key Principle:

- Our responsibility = obedience

- God’s responsibility = results

Truth: God works through willing people, not perfect people.

Application:

- Take the step God is asking of you.

- Trust Him with the outcome.

4. God Is Our Good Shepherd

- Psalm 23:1 (NIV) — “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”

The Shepherd:

- Leads us (v.2–3)

- Protects us (v.4)

- Provides for us (v.5)

Truth: When God is our Shepherd, we are secure and free.

Application:

- Stop striving—start trusting.

- Follow His lead daily.

5. The Greatest Comfort: Salvation and Eternal Hope

- Psalm 23:6 (NIV) — “I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

- The greatest comfort is not temporary relief—it’s eternal security.

Truth: Forgiveness and heaven give us unshakable peace.

Application:

- Live with confidence in your salvation.

- Let eternal hope shape your daily life.

Closing Thought

God calls us based on His promise, not our performance. When we trust Him, obey Him, and follow Him, we find true comfort and purpose.
