Core Values Week 6

Nov 16, 2025    Dave White

Today we’re focusing on what it truly means to be empowered for ministry—not just to believe in Jesus, but to walk in the purpose He has designed for each of us. At Christ Chapel, our core values define this mission clearly: Win the lost, disciple the found, heal the broken, and send the whole. These aren’t just organizational values; they describe the spiritual journey God wants to lead every believer through. And to live this out, we must be empowered—equipped spiritually—to do the work of ministry.

1. Receive Jesus as Your Savior

Empowerment begins with relationship. Before we can minister to others, we must allow Jesus to minister to us. Receiving Him as Savior means acknowledging our need, surrendering our lives, and stepping into the salvation He freely gives. This is the foundation of all Christian ministry: a heart transformed by grace. Without this step, ministry becomes human effort. With Jesus, ministry becomes the overflow of a redeemed life.

2. Receive Spiritual Authority

Once saved, believers are invited to walk in the authority Jesus gives. This is not about power for personal benefit, but authority to advance God’s kingdom. Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me,” and He commissions us under that same authority. Walking in spiritual authority means living confidently in who Christ has made us to be—children of God, ambassadors of Christ, lights in the darkness. We minister not in our own name, but in His.

3. Receive the Holy Spirit

Finally, empowerment comes through the Holy Spirit. The early church was powerless until the Spirit came upon them—and then they turned the world upside down. The Holy Spirit fills us, guides us, strengthens us, and distributes gifts that enable us to serve effectively. He gives boldness, wisdom, compassion, and supernatural ability. Without Him, ministry is limited; with Him, ministry is limitless. To be empowered for Christian ministry is to be continually filled with the Spirit of God.

Together, these three steps—receiving Jesus, receiving authority, and receiving the Holy Spirit—equip us to fully live out our calling. They move us from spectators to participants, from attendees to ambassadors, from believers to ministers.

God never calls without also empowering. He has saved you, He has given you authority, and He desires to fill you with His Spirit so you can live out His mission—winning the lost, discipling the found, healing the broken, and sending the whole. Today is an invitation not just to believe, but to be empowered. Open your heart, respond to His call, and step boldly into the ministry God has prepared for you. The world is waiting for the Christ in you.
