Core Values week 2
At Christ Chapel, our mission is centered on four foundational values:
- Win the Lost
- Disciple the Found
- Heal the Broken
- Send the Whole
These values remind us that following Jesus means continually growing, healing, and helping others do the same.
The Call to Discipleship
Being a disciple means being a disciplined follower of God. Discipleship is not passive—it’s a daily commitment to walk with God and create space for Him in every part of our lives.
The story of Noah shows us what it means to move forward with God. When everyone else ignored the Lord, Noah made room for God’s presence. Because of this, he found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Like Noah, we must dedicate ourselves to walking with God so that His grace can guide and sustain us.
Daily Practices of a Disciple
To move forward in what God has next, we must be intentional about our spiritual disciplines:
- Attend church regularly - Gathering with other believers strengthens our faith and keeps us accountable.
- Worship God and trust Him for our daily needs.
- Read God’s Word daily. His truth transforms our hearts and renews our minds.
- Tithe faithfully. Giving back to God what is His helps us stay disciplined and dependent on Him.
Living by the Spirit
Discipleship is about surrendering daily to God and seeking to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The evidence of this is seen in the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
To truly follow God, we must stop trusting in our own strength—the “raven”—and instead trust the guidance of the “dove,” the Holy Spirit.
Principles of Discipleship:
- Be in God’s Word every day.
- Surrender to God each day.
- Be filled with the Holy Spirit every day.
- Stop feeding the “raven” and follow the “dove.”
Grace and Obedience
Remember this key truth: Grace keeps us, but obedience moves us forward. Faith in God’s grace saves us, but it is our daily obedience—our disciplined discipleship—that allows us to experience His plans and purposes for our lives.
