Core Values - Week 8
This sermon emphasizes the importance of being rooted and grounded in God’s Word. Just as core memories shape who we are and connect us to one another, core Bible verses anchor and strengthen our Christian faith. These verses are not meant to be discovered only in moments of crisis; they must already be planted in our hearts so that when trouble comes, they can sustain us.
Scripture provides specific encouragement for different seasons of life. Esther 4:14 reminds us, especially in times of insecurity, that God places us where we are for such a time as this. Psalm 139:5 reassures us during seasons of confusion that God surrounds us and is always present. Philippians 4:6–7 calls us to trust God in turmoil, replacing worry with prayer and gratitude so His peace can guard our hearts. Genesis 50:20 speaks to conflict, showing that even what others intend for harm, God can redeem for good. 1 Timothy 1:7 addresses fear, reminding us that God gives us a spirit of love, power, and a sound mind—not fear.
The sermon concludes with practical guidance for maintaining a sound mind:
1) God knows what we do not.
2) Feelings are a gauge, not a guide.
3) God leads us even when we feel unsure.
4) We must be intentional about what we allow into our minds and hearts.
Ultimately, believers are encouraged to allow God’s Word to breathe truth into them daily, because when life becomes overwhelming, it is Scripture that provides strength, clarity, and peace.
